Stockholm-based Director Maria Sandström began her career as an Art Director but quickly realised that combining her strong visual eye with directing, would better fit her desire to create and develop stories. The advertising industry has Maria to thank for many strong concepts over the years both for the commercial and branded content market. 

Her honest interest in people and the quirks of human nature is her muse. She fuses this with strong concepts and a never-ending stream of new ideas, seeing things from surprising and different perspectives. It's impressive to see her work with children, she has the patience and empathy to make sure a true bond is built and that they feel safe and happy to perform.

You can drop her anywhere in the lifespan of a project and she will adapt, ideating if you need to or working with a script and storyboard that is already defined. Collaborate with Maria solo or with her trusted  team and she can take a project all the way from brief to delivery. Concepts, treatments, pitches, direction and post production are all taken care of. When casting, she will seek far and wide from scouring Instagram to pull in an actor contact. She has an impressive black book in Sweden!

After 10 years in London, she is as comfortable expressing herself in both languages and has a great knowledge of both the Swedish and British culture. Her desk is always a little too messy and she drinks way too much coffee but she is always on time and always in a jolly good mood.

On the side of her directing work, she draws colourful somewhat naive monkeys and had a solo show as recently as December 2021. She is currently developing a series of glass monkeys with Orranäs glasbruk.
